Highest Safety Standards Guaranteed
With the eDESKc, eurofunk presents an innovative, modular product family for control room furniture that is already in use in over twenty control rooms. eurofunk developed the control room desk to the highest quality standards, offering customers a safe, functional, and customizable state-of-the-art solution.
In addition, eurofunk voluntarily had the eDESKc GS-certified by TÜV (Technical Inspection Association). This certification goes beyond legal requirements and includes, among other things, regular inspections of the production environment. In this way, eurofunk ensures ongoing compliance with strict quality and safety standards.
Why the eDESKc is considered a ‘machine’
The eDESKc is much more than a traditional work desk: In addition to ample space for technical equipment, the product family offers—depending on the model—up to four electric height-adjustment options. This allows the control room desk to be optimally adapted to various ergonomic and operational requirements.
Due to its electric motor drive technology, the eDESKc is legally classified as a machine. Consequently, extensive requirements must be met for conformity assessment. These include, among other things, risk analyses and assessments, as well as compliance with relevant EU regulations, directives, standards, and recognized rules of technology.
Comprehensive conformity assessment
As a product intended for the European Economic Area, the eDESKc meets mandatory requirements in the areas of safety, health protection, and environmental protection. As part of the conformity assessment, eurofunk compiled comprehensive internal and external documentation.
The internal documentation comprises more than 90 pages of test reports as well as detailed risk analyses—covering both intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. In addition, eurofunk defined targeted measures for risk minimization.
Furthermore, eurofunk tested and documented the conformity of all installed components—including an assessment of the chemical composition of the composite materials used.
Safety tested by an external body
The successful GS certification additionally confirms the quality of the eDESKc by an accredited, independent testing body. In addition to the documentation review, the product was subjected to extensive mechanical testing. Static and dynamic load tests over thousands of cycles simulate the demanding conditions of a control centre environment and test the durability of the system.
In the course of certification, the quality assurance system was also expanded and further professionalised. The GS test mark awarded by TÜV refers to the basic product, which can be customised within defined limits without changing the safety-relevant properties of the product family.
Safety throughout the entire life cycle
With the voluntary GS test, eurofunk creates additional safety and transparency – from development and production to the operation of the eDESKc. At the same time, the product development process is supported in a structured manner and ecological sustainability is taken into account throughout the entire life cycle. Successful certification ensures that future control centre desks in the eDESKc family will also be designed according to the state of the art and will comply with all applicable regulations and additional requirements for safety, health protection and environmental protection.
